GDC Day 3: Gabe Newell Is A Troll!

I suppose I'm a little behind since it is now Friday, but now I'm just standing around so I'll do a little recap on the eventful yesterday.

GDC Day 2

Last night was the first time I've partied in my 3 years of GDC! I got some free booze at the Kongregate party, and saw an old peer from IU there. It seems he's been working at EA as a producer for flash games for 6 months. He got the job through a family friend. As a producer, he'll probably be making more than I, since I plan on being a lowly programmer. Anyway, I got a free Rumpleminze shot from my good buddy Justin Kaminski, and then my other good friend Jhustin got hit by a drunk driver and was okay, so he just got a beer and kept goin'. GREAT NIGHT!

First Day of GDC

Tuesday is the first day of GDC10, as opposed to monday in previous years. The AI Summit is today and tomorrow, and after having seen 3 of those sessions, I must say I have been slightly enlightened.

I'm in between sessions now, and having come from Dave Mark's "Utility Theory" session, I think I've decided how I plan to create my agents for my next game. It'll basically be a bunch of formulas working together to dictate how an agent responds to the game. Maybe I can even have random mutation for formulas.

Next: Shadow Mapping. It just started :-)

California

I made it to California on Friday, and as always, the weekend prior to GDC I stay at my brother Fi's condo in San Jose. It's always a major highlight of my California trips because I get to spend the entire weekend with the brother I only see a couple times a year.

GDC & Spring Break: Senior Year Version

I suppose it's time to finally start blogging now that I'm getting old and into the job market, so, while in the last few lazy months I have left, let these posts mark the glorious finale to my college career.

GDC is comin' up next week, and following it is likely the most relaxing Spring Break I will ever have - which is fitting for this lazy last senior semester. GDC is expected to turn out normally, meaning the best week of my life. The real unknown is "what" I'll be doing for break, given I already know the "where."

Drupal Android App

Bored in my Probability & Statistics course, I decided to randomly browse the android market. To my surprise I found a very simple Drupal app for my phone, and now I'm posting a blog entry from my phone, in my boring class! :-)

Spriting

At work today, I decided to make my first ever sprites for a little top-down shooter I want to make. I've been planning this game for quite some time, and I just learned about Counterstrike 2D and Team Fortress 2D, and they are pretty much exactly the art style I'm going for: simple top-down sprites of people killing each other!

Syntax Highlighting Test

Alright, lets test our syntax highlighting module with factorial functions in my favorite languages!

The Blog is Back!

Once again, my coveted blog has been resurrected! After numerous lightning strikes and power outages while interning in Utah, and months of a dead hard drive, I've finally decided to take initiative and reformat my server's operating system AND content management system. After fiddling with Windows Server 2008 and IIS7, (i.e.
